Nurses's Aide

NICHOLVILLE--Ethel M. Lewin, 88, Nicholville, died Friday afternoon in Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam, where she had been a patient since Jan. 14.

 Mrs. Lewin was a waitress at C&C Restaurant, Baxterville, and the Vernon, Potsdam, was a nurses's aide at Charlebois Nursing Home (now Community Nursing Home), Potsdam, for eight years and helped her husband operate a small farm on Market Road.

 She moved to Norwood in 1982 with her companion Joseph Williams. Following his death, she moved to Hopkinton.

 Born Dec. 30, 1912, in Stockholm a daughter of Earl and Lydia Fefee Cramer, she attended schools in Norwood and married Morris S. Lewin on April 20, 1932, at her family's home in Stockholm. The marriage ended in divorce. He died April 10, 1978.

 Surviving are two sons and their wives, Alton and Patricia L., Memphis, Tenn., and Alfred and Patricia G., Hopkinton; five daughters and two sons-in-law, Alberta McCargar, Edwards, Alice Besaw, Massena, Aletha and Lyle Kennedy, Potsdam, Agnes and Max Barney, Massena, and Annette Judy Lewin, Ogdensburg; two brothers, Everett Cramer, Burke, and Leland Cramer, Potsdam; 25 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

 A son, Albert, died before her.

 The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Garner Funeral Home, Potsdam, with the Rev. Lee Sweeney officiating. Spring burial will be in Sanfordville Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Doinations may be made to a charity of choice.
