Electrician

HANNAWA FALLS--Leo J. Mackey, 85, Hannawa Falls, died Saturday in Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam, where he had been admitted earlier in the day.
Mr. Mackey worked as an electrician for more than 31 years with Shelly Electric, Potsdam.
He was a charter member of Potsdam Elks Lodge and Massena Moose Lodge and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He enjoyed bowling, music and dancing.
Born April 20, 1918, in Norwood, son of Edward P. and Agnes Snow Mackey, he attended Norwood schools.
He first married Dorothy Hill and the couple lived in South Colton. The marriage ended in divorce. He married Beulah Noble Belmore on March 24, 1967, at Sandy Creek and the couple settled in Hannawa Falls. Mrs. Mackey died June 12, 1969. He married Janet E. Brownell on Dec. 6, 1984, in Potsdam with the Rev. Russell Clark officiating.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, David, Ithaca, and Duncan, Canastota; a daughter, Kathy Mackey, Missoula, Mont.; two stepsons, Gary Brownell, Richland, Wash., and Steve Brownell, Ann Arbor, Mich.; two stepdaughters, Pam Brownell, Bellingham, Wash., and Carol Hess, Potsdam; a brother, Joseph, California; four half brothers, Phillip, Edward and Patrick Mackey, all of Norwood, and Raymond Mackey, Bloomington, Ill.; two half sisters, Rita Jackson, Norwood, and Emma McCorkell, Green Valley, Ontario, and nine step-grandchildren, including Ginette ad Ryan Hess, Potsdam, with whom he was very close.
A son, Thomas L., three brothers, Leonard, Judd and Paul, two sisters, Dorothy Fenton and Hilda VanSlyke, and a half-brother, Bernard Mackey, died before him.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Garner Funeral Home, Potsdam, with the Rev. Mr. Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Hermon Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
