WINTHROP--Funeral services for Sarah K. Mahoney, 68, of Norwood, will be held Monday at noon at St. Patrick’s Church in Brasher Falls. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Brasher Falls.

 

Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.

 

Sarah died Thursday evening (Aug. 28, 2003) at her home, under the care of her family and Hospice.

 

She is survived by her husband, John "Jack;" three sisters, Helen and Ben Srube of Portland, Maine, Mae Kyler of Clearfield, Pa., and Jean and James Price of Clearfield, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

She was born March 3, 1935 in Clearfield, Pa., daughter of the late Thurston and Edith Crain Livergood.

 

They moved to Niagara Falls, and she went to work at Walgreen Drugs, where she met and married John Mahoney of Brasher Falls in 1952. They both worked for Walgreen’s in New England.

 

They moved back to Brasher Falls in 1954 and worked for Kinney Drugs in Massena.

 

In 1955, they bought Mahoney’s Restaurant in Brasher Falls and in 1961 they bought the Sunset Lodge in Norwood. She retired in 1990 and spent summers in Norwood and winters in Naples, Fla.
