John Herbert Montle

Norwood--John Herbert Montle, 85, died at the home of his grandson, Leo Eggleston, Leonard St., about noon last Friday. Mr. Montle had a bad fall a year ago and had not been well since.

He was born July 1, 1862 in Stockholm, a son of the late John and Elizabeth Varney Montle. He married Miss Mary Louise Amore, daughter of Henry and Susan Champine Almore of Brasher Falls, on Aug. 21, 1883 at Skinnerville. Mrs. Montle died April 27, 1942, at the age of 79.

Mr. Montle has lived in Norwood for 25 years. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Lomoard, Flint, Mich., and Mrs. John (Anna) French, Norwood; a son, John, Norwood; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday at St. Andrew’s Church, Rev. James M. Joy, pastor, officiated. Burial will be in the spring in St. Mary’s cemetery, Potsdam.
