Frederick J. Nichols

FREDERICK J. NICHOLS ALCOA RETIREE

MASSENA - -- Frederick J. Nichols, 77, of 27 Urban Drive, died at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday in Massena Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Nichols was employed with Yaleville Paper Mill and was a driver with Boyce Bus Service and a part-time driver with Phillips Memorial Home. He was employed by Aluminum Company of America from 1940 until his retirement in 1980.

Born Jan. 10, 1919, in Roxbury, Vt., a son of Richard and Mildred Severy Nichols, he was a 1936 graduate of Norwood High School and married Elinor M. McIntosh on Aug. 25, 1939, at the United Methodist Church, Brasher Falls, with the Rev. Francis E. Loan officiating.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Alcoa's 25-Year Club, the Mall Walkers Club, and a member and past president of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1702.

Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Albert (Dianne) Meyer, Bella Vista, Ariz., and several grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Two brothers, Clyde and Willard, and a sister, Luella Nichols, died before him.

There will be no public funeral service or calling hours. Arrangements are with Phillips Memorial Home. Contributions may be made to Massena Volunteer Rescue Squad or Massena Memorial Hospital Foundation.
