Village of Norwood retiree

BRASHER FALLS--Danforth J. Peacock, 62, town of Brasher, died of cancer Feb. 17 at Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Midwestern Regional Medical Center, Zion, Ill., where he had been a patient since Jan. 19.
Mr. Peacock worked for the village of Norwood from 1969 to 1997, when he retired as superintendent of the Department of Public Works, a position he held for 23 years. He was also a certified water-sewage treatment plant operator for the village and worked for the village police department.
He was active with Norwood United Methodist Church, Boy Scout Troop 40 and Norwood Fire Department, and was a member of the Elks Lodge, where he served as exalted ruler. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Born Oct. 10, 1942, in Potsdam, son of James and Veronica Barney Peacock, he attended school in Parishville until entering the Marine Corps, in which he served from June 1960 to June 1964.
He married Jane M. Perry on Nov. 24, 1963, at the United Methodist Church of Norwood. The marriage ended in divorce in 1993.
He married Judith H. Brown in Potsdam on Aug. 18, 1998.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Christopher, Tupper Lake, Matthew, Canton, and Danforth Jr., Norwood; his stepfather, Ralph Prevost, Winthrop; two sisters and their husbands, Ellen and Ray Thompson, Winthrop, and Frieda and George Fisher, Colton; six grandchildren, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Besides his father, James, and his mother, Veronica Prevost, a brother, Thomas, died before him.
A memorial service will be at a later date. Arrangements are with Buck Funeral Home, Norwood.
