Paper Maker
(September 9, 1907--October 14, 2000)
POTSDAM--A funeral mass for Wilfred "Wes" Perry, 93, Route 56, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Church with Monsignor William Argy and deacon Fred Brousseau officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Mr. Perry died Saturday afternoon in Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Garner Funeral Home.
He began employment at Raquette River Paper Co. at age 17 and was a paper maker there until his retirement in 1971.
Born Sept. 9, 1907, in Bangor, a son of Theodore and Josephine Bombard Perry, he attended Norwood schools and married Leona Basom on June 23, 1934, at St. John the Baptist Church, Madrid. She died May 19, 1986.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council and a communicant of St. Mary's Church.
Surviving are three sons and their wives, Ronald and Donna, Painted Post, Peter and Gayle, Fayetteville, and Paul and Leona, Rochester; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A granddaughter, two brothers, Albert and Leon, and five sisters, Florence Deyear, Della Yando, Renee Burke, Evelyn Ashley and Leona Ashley, died before him.
Donations may be made to the Knights of Columbus Council.
