Lay Minister, Teacher

POTSDAM--Allan Putnam Pfautz, 84, South Dennis, Mass., formerly of Potsdam, Norwood, and Russell, died at 1:30 a.m. Thursday at Cape Cod Hospital after being stricken at home.

 Mr. Pfautz served for a time as lay preacher for the Potsdam Church of the Nazarene. He was also a teacher at Norwood-Norfolk Central School for eight years and served as supervisor at Knox Memorial Central School, Russell.

 He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, pastoring churches in Pennsylvania; Farmingham, Mass.; Bangor, Maine, and Potsdam.

 Born April 2, 1918, in Akron, Ohio, he received a bachelor of arts degree from Eastern Nazarene College, Wollaston, Mass., in 1942, and received a master of science degree in education from Potsdam State Teachers College.

 He married Fern C. Allen on May 30, 1941, in Springfield, Mass.

 Surviving besides his wife are three daughters, Norene Fiacco, Quincy, Mass., Kathleen Mitchell, Halifax, Mass., and Nadine Pfautz, Hanson, Mass.; four sons, David, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., John, Davenport, Iowa, Timothy, Clinton, Mo., and Richard, Barnstable, Mass.; a brother, Barton, Beaver Creek, Ohio; a sister, Elaine Fussellman, Akron, Ohio; an aunt, 14 grandchildren, a great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

 A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Dennis Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Christopher Wiley and the Rev. J. Lyal Calhoun officiating. The body will be cremated.

 Arrangements are with Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Service, South Dennis, Mass.
