Truck Driver

NORWOOD--Allen S. "Two Guns" Phillips, 77, Norwood, died Tuesday morning at his home.

 Mr. Phillips served with the Army from Feb. 9. 1942, to Dec. 6, 1945, and was a police officer for the villages of Potsdam and Norwood. He was a truck driver for St. Lawrence Haulers (now Barrett Paving Materials Inc.), Norfolk, until his retirement in 1980, after 27 years.

 Born April 4, 1923, in Potsdam, son of Carl and Alice Stone Phillips, he attended Potsdam schools and married Jean Duegaw in June 1962 in Potsdam. She died Sept. 15, 1993.

 He was a member of the American Legion.

 Surviving are a son and his wife, Robert and Connie, Raymondville; five daughters and two sons-in-law, Rita Monroe, Robin and Keith Hoyt and Naomi Phillips, all of Norwood, Vickie McGregor, Massena, and Joyce and Robin Garrow, Raymondville; a brother, Carl, Waddington; three sisters, Mary Stevens, Neva Baxter and Eloise Fletcher, all of Potsdam, 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

 A brother, George, and two sisters, Naomi Stevens and Emma Bush, died before him.

 The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Garner Funeral Home, Potsdam, with the Rev. Lee Sweeney officiating. Spring burial will be in Garfield Cemetery, Potsdam.

 Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley, P.O. Box 469, Potsdam, N.Y. 13676.
