Retired Laborer
(July 12, 1916--June 24. 2000)
MASSENA--Ivan M. Power, 83, of 782 Route 131, died at 3:10 a.m. Saturday in Massena Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since June 2. He had been ill for two years.
Mr. Power was employed at GLF Co. and Aluminum Company of America and owned and operated a dairy farm. He retired as a laborer in 1981 from White's Dairy.
He was born July 12, 1916, in Norwood, son of Minard and Ethel Jones Power. His mother died when he was 4 and he was raised by his father and stepmother, Letitia Power. He was a graduate of Massena High School and a 1938 graduate of Canton Agricultural and Technical Institute.
He married Irene White on Oct. 16, 1944, at the Church of the Sacred Heart Rectory.
A member of Louisville Landing Free Union Church, Massena Grange 704 and Massena Rod and Gun Club, he enjoyed gardening.
Suviving besides his wife are three sons, David and Michael, both of Massena, and Philip, Wilson; a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Carol) Sharp, Massena; a sister, Alice Sutton, Winthrop; seven grandchildren and several nieces and hephews.
A sister, Irene M. Dickinson, died Dec. 31, 1995.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Donaldson Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas R. Shear officiating. Burial will be in Louisville Community Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, with members of Massena Grange 704 meeting at 3:30 p.m. Donations may be made to Louisville Landing Free Union Church Memorial Fund.
