CARTHAGE--Velma Mae Rogers, 84, of 23829 Jackson Road, died early Tuesday at Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility, Lowville, where she had resided since October.
Mrs. Rogers was a cook in various restaurants and at the former Greenbriar Nursing Home.
Born July 3, 1921, in Norwood, daughter of Arthur and Mabel Jennings Price, she attended school in Natural Bridge.
She married Milton E. Rogers on May 14, 1938, at the Black River Methodist Church parsonage with the Rev. Charles B. Wallace officiating. Mr. Rogers died July 28, 1988.
She was a member of the Red Hat Society at Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility and a former member of the Great Bend Fire Department Auxiliary.
Surviving are a daughter, Betty J. Wilsie, Carthage; two sons, Robert E. and Carl, both of Carthage; a sister, Beatrice M. Williams, Carthage; a half sister, Eleanor Martin, Carthage; 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
A son, Frederick P. Rogers; a daughter, Beverly A. LaGrow; a brother, Edward S. Price, two sisters, Aretta A. Dobransky and Mildred I. Disotell, and a grandchild died before her.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Bossuot-Lundy Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce W. Chapman officiating.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
