Ada N. Rose

Chambermaid

MASSENA--Ada M. Rose, 83, formerly of 50 Grassmere Terrace, died at 9:25 p.m. Tuesday at Highland Nursing Home.

 Mrs. Rose was an attendant at a state psychiatric hospital, a domestic worker, was employed at a dress factory in Saranac Lake and was a chambermaid at Will Rogers Institute, Saranac Lake.

 Born April 2, 1918, in Norwood, a daughter of Nelson and Hattie LaTour Sheets, she was a graduate of Waddington High School and married Antonio J. Rose on June 16, 1939, in Ogdensburg. The marriage ended in divorce in 1976.

 She enjoyed playing card games, crossword puzzles, watching television, working with puzzles, traveling and quilt making.

 Surviving are two sons, Ronald J., Ilion, and Nelson P., Syracuse; six daughters, Mrs. William (Carole) Raymo, Norfolk, Mrs. Wellington (Marilyn) Snider, Norfolk, Mrs. Richard (Lillian) Moon, Canaan, N.J., Mrs. James (Nan) Knight, Saranac Lake, Mrs. Donald (Linda) Martish, Johnstown, and Connie Rose, Clifton Park; a brother, Lloyd Sheets, Waddington; 25 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

 Two brothers, George and Walter Sheets, a sister, Florence Eva Henderson, a granddaughter and a niece died before her.

 The funeral will be a 2 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Memorial Home, Waddington, with the Rev. Lorna J. McKendry officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Waddington.

 Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
