Child Care Provider

NORWOOD--Elizabeth J. Rowe, 67, County Route 48, died Wednesday evening in Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg, where she had been a patient since Aug. 9.
Mrs. Rowe was a secretary with Aluminum Company of America for three years. She was a child-care provider for 30 years and operated Betty's Bisque and Ceramic Shop from her home, retiring in 1997.
Born April 5, 1932, in Norfolk, a daughter of Arthur and Mabel Stevens Murray, she was a 1950 graduate of Brasher-Stockholm High School. She married Carl B. Rowe on Feb. 17, 1953, at St. Mary's Rectory, Potsdam, with the Rev. James Flattery officiating.
Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Lyle and Carl, both of Norwood; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Ellen) Jones, Brewerton, Mrs. Anthony (Wendy) Arquiett, Brasher Falls, and Mrs. Paul (Karen) Hitchman, Canton; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Three brothers, Lloyd, Lyle and Robert Murray, and two sisters, June Wolchok and Norma Riggs, died before her.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Church, Potsdam, with the Rev. John P. Kennehan officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Garner Funeral Home, Potsdam. Donations may be made to the Social Activities Fund, St. Mary's Church, 17 Lawrence Ave., Potsdam, N.Y. 13676, or Potsdam Volunteer Rescue Squad.
