Arthur J. Sawyer

World War II Veteran

 

(December 27, 1917--February 23, 2000)

 

NORWOOD--Arthur J. Sawyer, 82, Old Market Road, died Feb. 23 in Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam.

 Mr. Sawyer served with the army during World War II and was employed by Wilcox Goodyear, Cortland, for 20 years.

Born Dec. 27, 1917, in Brushton, a son of Francis and Rose Oakes Sawyer, he married Edith M. Daniels on Oct. 9, 1951, in York, S.C. She died Feb. 20, 1995.

 Surviving are a brother, Reuben, Newark; two sisters, Annabelle Sawyer, Norwich, and Ethel Queor, Syracuse, and several nieces and nephews.

 The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hammill funeral Home, Winthrop, with the Rev. Clark S. White, pastor of St. Patrick's Church, Brasher Falls, officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Brushton.

 A calling hour will be 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
