Maybelle M. Shannon

NORWOOD--The funeral for Maybelle M. Shannon, 82, of 17 Morgan St., formerly of Gouverneur, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew's Church with the Rev. Paul Worczak, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden.

 Mrs. Shannon died Monday morning at her home.

 There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Buck Funeral Home.

 She was a registered nurse and owned and operated Shannon's Apartments, Gouverneur.

 Born Feb. 3, 1916, in Port Leyden, daughter of John A. and Ellen Mary McManus Valencourt, she was a graduate of Port Leyden High School and A. Barton Hospital School of Nursing. She married Claude J. Shannon on Feb. 11, 1939 at St. Patrick's Church, Watertown, with the Rev. E.A. Kelly presiding. Mr. Shannon died June 4, 1977.

 She was a communicant of St. Andrew's Church.

 Surviving are two sisters, Mildred Levison, Norwood, and Anna Valencourt, Utica, and several nephews and nieces.

 Three brothers, Robert, John and James Valencourt, and five sisters, Eva Farr, Jessie Mekkelson, Helena Felshaw, Ida Smith and Mary Church, died before her.

 Contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley or the American Cancer Society.
