NORWOOD--The funeral for Violet I. Simons, 74, of 52 S. Main St.,, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, Norfolk, with the Rev. Richard Lenz officiating. Burial will be later this spring in Hale Cemetery, Norfolk.

Mrs. Simons died Tuesday afternoon at her home.

Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Buck Funeral Home.

A homemaker, she was employed at the Massena Senior Citizens Center for a short time.

Born Aug. 17, 1929, in Pierrepont, daughter of Shepard and Mildred Barrigar Jacobs, she was a graduate of Norfolk High School. She married George Simons on May 11, 1927, at the First Methodist Church, Massena, with the Rev. A. Lesley Potter officiating. He died Dec. 23, 1974. She later married John Simons. He died in 1998.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, American Legion Auxiliary and Jolly Agers. She was a member and chaplain of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 230.

Surviving are five daughters, Peggy Jenner, Norfolk, Mrs. Larry (Cathy) Fayette, Norfolk, Gloria Emburey, Laurel, Md., Carolyn Simons, Seattle, Wash., and Violet "Booder" Simons, Canton; a sister, Viola Johnson, Canton; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Clifford Jacobs, and a sister, Grace Deshane, died before her.

Donations may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley, Potsdam Animal Shelter or First United Methodist Church.
