NORWOOD--Word has been received of the death of Douglas Stevens, 77, Mechanicsville, Va., formerly of Bristol, England. Mr. Stevens died Aug. 1, 1998 and a private funeral service was held. His remains were cremated.
He married the former Yvonne Stevens of Norwood in 1967 in St. Andrews Catholic Church, Norwood. Mrs. Stevens is the daughter of the late Beatrice Stevens of Norwood.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Wendy Hubday and two grandchildren in Bristol, England and two cousins Ruby (Stevens) Royce, Norwood formerly of Bristol, England and Betty (Stevens) Stone of Bristol, England.

NORWOOD--Douglas A. Stevens, 77, Mechanicsville, Va., formerly of England, husband of Norwood native Yvonne Stevens, died Aug. 1 at Henrico Doctors Hospital, Richmond, Va.
Mr. Stevens was a mechanical engineer for the former Stone Container Co., Richmond, retiring in 1991.
Born March 29, 1921 in Bristol, England, a son of Arthur and May Hawkins Stevens, he graduated from Kingswood High School. He served in the Royal Air Force during World War II.
His first wife, Mary, died in the late 1960's.He married Yvonne Anne Stevens, daughter of the late Beatrice Stevens, in 1970 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church.
The couple lived in Montreal and Toronto before moving to Virginia.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Wendy Hubday, Bristol; two grandchildren and a cousin, Ruby Royce, 5 Harrison St.
The funeral was private. The body was cremated.
Arrangements were with Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Laburnum Ave., Richmond.
