MASSENA--Lillian E. Mackey Stewart, 99, formerly of Andrews Street, died Wednesday at St. Regis Nursing Home.

Mrs. Stewart was a teacher at rural schools in Norwood for five years and was a secretary at Aluminum Company of America until her retirement in January 1967, after 24 ½ years.

Born Oct. 6, 1904, in Norwood, a daughter of John and Ellen Leary Mackey, she was a graduate of Norwood High School and Potsdam Normal School. She married Norman C. Stewart on Oct. 12, 1929, at St. Andrew’s Church, Norwood. Mr. Stewart died July 29, 1981.

Surviving are a grandson and his wife, Jeffrey G. and Rebecca Sprankle, St. Regis Falls; a granddaughter and her husband, Carol and Jay Smith, Hatfield, Mass.; a sister, Mabel Stewart, Brockport, and six great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Jean Sprankle, died before her.

The funeral will be at noon Saturday at St. Joseph’s Church with the Rev. Jack Downs officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. until the time of a prayer service at Memorial Home. Donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Church Memorial Fund.
