GOUVERNEUR--Clyde H. Stone, 77, of 591 Van Buren Road, died Sunday morning at his home.

 Mr. Stone was employed at the Loomis mine and worked on the railroad. He also worked for the town of Gouverneur and for 12 years for the village of Gouverneur.

 He then worked at Gouverneur Talc Co. and operated his own business, Smoky's Sewer Service, for many years until retiring.

 He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

 Born Aug. 4, 1922, in Norwood, a son of William and Eva Sellars Stone, he attended Norwood and Gouverneur schools.

 A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army for six years.

 He married Beatrice Durham on May 2, 1947, at First Methodist Church with the Rev. Harold A. Thomas officiating.

 Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Roy, Gouverneur, and Jeffrey, Richville; three daughters, Iris Bennett, Patricia Collins and Jenny Sterling, all of Gouverneur; a brother, Henry, Gouverneur; a sister, Geneva Ernestine, address unknown; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

 Two brothers, Leo and Carl, died before him.

 Services are private. Burial will be in Fullerville Cemetery.

 Arrangements are with Green Funeral Home.
