FORMER NORWOOD MAN IS KILLED

 

(October 22, 1944)

 

 Syracuse, Nov. 10--Pfc. William E. Stone, 37, of Norwood, was killed in action in Belgium Oct. 22, according to word received Tuesday by his father, John P. Stone of 306 Coolidge Avenue.

 Mr. Stone received a letter from his son on Nov. 6, which was dated Oct. 8 in which he said that he was "fine." Private Stone entered service two and a half years ago, and trained in the infantry at Camp Livingston, La., and Camp Gordon Johnston, Fla.

 He was sent overseas on Oct. 8, 1943, and spent six months in South Wales before going to South England and then to France. Since entering combat he had been in France, Luxembourg and Belgium.

 Private Stone attended Norwood schools and was employed by the Norwood & St. Lawrence railroad twelve years before entering service....(remainder of article not legible).
