At the Physicians Hospital, Plattsburgh, N.Y. , Feb. 19, 1919, quickly following an operation. Helen E. Torrence, of Moriah, N.Y., aged about 38 years.
Mrs. Torrence was well-known in Franklin county and had many friends in this vicinity who are greatly grieved to hear of her sudden death. She was the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. M. Cummings and was born in Norwood, N.Y. In early life she joined the Methodist church and had always been active working member of that organization. At Moriah she was junior superintendent of the Sunday School. She was a kind-hearted, loyal, truthful woman who led a devoted Christian life. Mrs. Torrence is survived by her husband, Earl R. Torrence, who is with the American Expeditionary Forces in France and has been serving his country ever since the outbreak of the war, one daughter, Ruth E. Torrence, her parents, Mr. And Mrs. M. Cummings, and the following brothers and sisters:--Homer, of Phoenix, Arizona; James and Ernest, of Brushton; Edward, who is serving his country in the Medical Corps at the Brooklyn Naval Hospital; Mrs. Ernest B. Drake, of Moira, and Miss Grace Cummings, who teaches history in the high school at Port Jervis, N.Y.
