NORWOOD--Elec J. Vari, 80, of 3502 County Route 47, died Thursday morning at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam, where he had been a patient since June 14.

 Mr. Vari was employed with the Town of Norfolk Highway Department from 1969 until his retirement in 1986.

 Born Aug. 20, 1920, in Norfolk, a son of Stephen and Theresa Schwarczkopf Vari, he married Irene Berry on July 16, 1960.

 Surviving besides his wife are a son and his wife, Elec J. Jr. and Linda, Norwood; two brothers, Louis, Norwood, and Ellis, Buffalo; two sisters, Helen Santimont and Julia Guyette, both of Massena; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

 Two brothers, Stephen and Joseph, and a sister, Irene Vari, died before him.

 The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Buck Funeral Home, Norfolk, with the Rev. Richard Lenz, pastor of the United Methodist Church, Norfolk, officiating. Burial will be in Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk.

 Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
