CANTON--The funeral for Dorothy C. Wells, 77, of 26 Pleasant St., will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. James M. Brand, pastor of Canton United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Wells died Wednesday morning at Fletcher Allen Health Care, Burlington, Vt.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Born May 26, 1924, in Westville, daughter of Edward Alfred and Alice Eliza Long Lanning, she attended Norwood High School.
She married Everett Sidney Wells on Oct. 2, 1944, in Littleton, N.H. Mr. Wells died Oct. 20, 1990.
Mrs. Wells was a cook in Dean-Eaton, Eben Holden, Whitman and Dana dining halls at St. Lawrence University until her retirement in 1988 after 41 years of service.
She was a member of the Canton Study Club, Canton Garden Club and Canton United Methodist Church and was a season ticket holder and avid SLU hockey fan.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Three brothers, Edward, James and William Lanning, and four sisters, Irene Bush, Alice Bray, Ruth Montgomery and Florence Lanning, died before her.
