SPENCER--Ethyl R. Ashley, 73, of Spencer and formerly of Norwood, NY, died Thursday, February 6, 1997, at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.

She was born in Potsdam, NY December 25, 1923 the daughter of the late Earl W. and Mildred "Wells) Reynolds. Ethyl was a bookkeeper for Canton GLF and later Marsellus Casket Company in Syracuse.

She was also a houseparent for George Junior Republic retiring in 1983.

She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Norwood and the Norwood Eastern Star.

Ethyl is survived by 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Maude Ashley, Rockledge, Fl; Michael and Pam Ashley, Van Etten, NY: Richard and Janet Ashley, Central Square, NY; Donald and Susan Ashley, White Post, VA; 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law: George and Colleen Reynolds, Massena, NY; and 5 nieces. She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence I. Ashley in 1993.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 10, 1997 at 11 AM at Allen-Manzer Funeral Home in Spencer, NY. Interment will be in Norwood Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, February 9 from 7 to 9 PM.
