Former Norwood Resident

NORWOOD--Lydia Webster Bunce, 85, Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Norwood, died at 10:20 a.m. Monday at Blake Medical Center, Bradenton, where she had been a patient since Thursday. At the time of her marriage, Mrs. Bunce moved from Norwood to Islip, Long Island. She and her husband, Charles, lived in Islip until their retirement from Pilgrim State Hospital, Brentwood, L.I., in the late 1960s. Following their retirement, they moved to Florida, where they lived in Merritt Island, in Seminole and finally in Bradenton. Mrs. Bunce was a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star, first in Islip and later in Florida. Born Feb. 10, 1913, at Parishville, daughter of Porter and Josephine Harrison Webster, she attended local schools. She married Charles A. Bunce on April 25, 1943, at the Norwood First Methodist Church with the Rev. William C. Wood, pastor, officiating. Surviving besides her husband, are two sisters, Mrs. Floyd (Letha) Ramsey, Bradenton, and Mrs. Walter (Corlean) Zimm, Watertown, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Two brothers, Freeman and William Webster, died before her. The body will be cremated at the National Cremation Society of Sarasota, Fla. Local funeral arrangements will be with Buck Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made to the Lions Club to support programs for the blind.
