William Cassidy, 61, or Norwood, died very suddenly Monday afternoon at about one oclock while on the way to his work in the New York Central Railroad yard office, an acute heart attack being the cause of death.
Mr. Cassidy was born in Norwood June 8, 1872, son of the late William Cassidy and Mrs. Ellen Porteus Cassidy. His entire life had been spent in that village and for the past 42 years had been employed by the New York Central there as clerk and assistant yard master. He was a keen observer of current events and a close observer of local affairs. He was a member of What Cheer Lodge F. & A. M. and of the order of Railroad Clerks.
Besides his mother, now in her 87th year, he is survived by three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Lillian Cassidy Nickerson, Miss Helen and Miss Alice Cassidy, and Harry J. Cassidy all of Norwood.
The funeral was held from the Spring St. residence Thursday afternoon at 2 oclock. Rev. Leon F. Haley, rector of St. Phillips Episcopal Church, officiating with interment in Riverside cemetery, Norwood.
