NORWOOD--A memorial service for Hubert F. Clark, 86, of 3 Harrison St., will be at 11 a.m. June 9 at the Norwood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Linda Harris and Mr. Clark’s brother, the Rev. Russell Clark, Potsdam, officiating.

Mr. Clark died Wednesday evening at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam.

There will be no calling hours.

At one time, he co-owned Northern Mechanical and then became owner of Norwood Plumbing & Heating, retiring in 1957.

Mr. Clark moved to Norwood in 1928 and joined the Norwood United Methodist Church and its choir and has been an active member ever since. He was a member of What Cheer Masonic Lodge 689, Scottish Rights Shriners, Azure Mountain Hunting Club and McCavenaugh Pond Club.

He was instrumental in starting a reading program with the elementary school children through a Masons-sponsored project and was named Citizen of the Year by the Norwood Kiwanis Club in 1966.

Born Oct. 20, 1914, in Conifer, son of Wilbur F. and Grace Woodward Clark, he married Jean Plummer on Feb. 11, 1933.

Surviving besides his wife and his brother are a son, Robert, Fayetteville; a daughter, Mrs. Roger (Carolyn) Williams, Syracuse; a sister, Esther Scott, Wading River, Long Island; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A son, Richard Clark, died before him.

Arrangements are with Buck Funeral Home.
