Norwood Man Hit by Auto, Dies

WINTHROP--A 71-year-old man died Friday night when he walked into the path of a car on Route 11.

Lloyd I. Colby, 7 Sports Ave., Norwood, was killed instantly when he was struck by a car driven by Joseph W. McGregor, 71, of 11292 Route 11, North Lawrence, St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies said.

Born Nov. 5, 1928, a son of Freid and Ida Clark Colby, he served with the Army Military Police in Germany during World War II.

He married Eleanor Clearo on June 23, 1951, in Morrisonville. Mrs. Colby died Dec. 28, 1988.

Mr. Colby was a member of Norwood United Methodist Church, Amercian Legion and Old Timers Softball League.

Surviving are his companion, Jean Sutton, North Lawrence; a son, Chris, Spencerport; three daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Deborah) Davies, Buffalo, Mrs. Brian (Gale) Sharlow, North Syracuse, and Mrs. Arlis (Jill) Frego, Norwood; a sister, Donna McDonough, Henrietta; and seven grandchildren.

Two brothers, Earl and Paul, died before him.

The funeral will be a 11 a.m. Tuesday at Norwood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Linda Harris officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Buck Funeral Home.
