Mary E. ‘Liz’ Cutler

POTSDAM--Mary E. "Liz" Cutler, 85, Potsdam, died Tuesday at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, where she had been a patient for two days.

Mrs. Cutler worked on the family farm in Potsdam and in the housekeeping department at SUNY Potsdam, retiring in 1976. She and her husband spent several winters in Florida.

Born Sept. 6, 1920, in Ticonderoga, daughter of George and Louise Derosia Holmes, she graduated from Potsdam High School.

She married Raymond G. Cutler on Feb. 4, 1943, at the Episcopal rectory in Madrid.

She was a charter member of the West Potsdam Fire Department Auxiliary and enjoyed crocheting, knitting and winter trips to Florida.

Surviving besides her husband are two sons and their wives, Raymond and Beverly, Potsdam, and Darrell and Bonnie, Rensselaer Falls; two daughters and a son-in-law, Betty and William Grant, Potsdam, and Carol Blanchard-Warner, North Carolina; a brother and his wife, George and Kate Holmes, Florida; a sister and her husband, Evelyn and Douglas White, Heuvelton, 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

There will be no funeral. Arrangements are with Garner Funeral Home, Potsdam.

There will be a gathering from 3 to 6 p.m. today at her daughter Betty’s house in Potsdam. Burial will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Norwood.
