Raymond R. Edgerton, 82, of Metuchen died Tuesday at his residence.
Born in Scarsdale, N.Y., he lived in White Plains, N.Y. before moving to Metuchen in 1948. Mr. Edgerton was employed as a chemical engineer with NL Industries in Sayreville for more than 25 years before his retirement. He had earned his engineering degree from Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y. He was an army veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Metuchen.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Mildred McQuade, and his second wife, Sally Jones. He is survived by his son, Ronald J. Edgerton of Lancaster, S.C.; a brother, Godfrey Edgerton of Montana and a grandson, Scott Edgerton.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave. (Route 27), Metuchen. Cremation will be private. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. tomorrow, during which time the funeral will be held.
