Francis C. Gonyea

Retired Bookkeeper

(June 17, 1930--June 6, 2000)

 

NORFOLK--Francis C. Gonyea, 69, of 29 S. Main St., died Tuesday morning in Massena Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since May 22.

Mr. Gonyea served with the army during the Korean War and was a bookkeeper at Flanders Inn, Massena, until his retirement due to disability. He had been disabled for 40 years.

Born June 17, 1930, in Norwood, son of Clarence and Luella Arquitte Gonyea, he married Maureen Dufore on Nov. 24, 1954.

He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion.

Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Stephen and Craig, both of Norfolk, and Bruce, Los Angeles, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Colleen) LaPoint, Norwood; four brothers, Donald, Norwood, Bernard, Edwards, William, North Carolina, and Robert, Massena; four sisters, Elizabeth Farmer, Potsdam, Janet Queor, Norwood, Mrs. John (Kathleen) Fitzpatrick, South Colton, and Patricia Marsellus, Norwood; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Two daughters, Pamela Martin and Amanda Gonyea, two brothers, Lawrence and Lewis , and two sisters, Helen Randal and Jean Gonyea, died before him.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Buck Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Smith officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Norwood.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Donations my be made to Disabled American Veterans or Norfolk Volunteer Rescue Squad.
