Town Highway Worker
(July 27, 1911--February 24, 2000) NORWOOD--Hollis "Buster" Green, 88, formerly of Norwood, died Thursday morning at Genesis Health Care, Watertown, where he had been a resident since December 1997. Mr. Green served in the army during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart. He was employed at Alumimun Company of America, Massena, and the town of Stockholm Highway Department until his retirement in 1980. He also operated a small farm. Born July 27, 1911, son of Willis and Myra Drean Green, he married Edna Garvey on May 7, 1935, at the Congregationl parsonage in Winthrop, with the Rev. J.T. Ruston officiating. She died at age 29. He married Bertha Russell on Aug. 6, 1949, at the home of Kenneth Armstrong, West Stockholm. She died March 3, 1996. Surviving are three brothers, Archie, Buffalo, Chester, Oneida, and Walter, Norfolk; three sisters, Blanche Wells, Massena, and Aletha and Nettie Green, both of Norwood, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Four brothers and a sister died before him. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Buck Funeral Home with the Rev. Lee Sweeney officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
