Former Town Clerk (June 27, 1908-April 3, 1998)
NORFOLK--Margaret A. Haggett, 89, Hutchins Street, died Friday evening in Ormond Memorial Hospital, Ormond Beach, Fla. Mrs. Haggett was town of Norfolk clerk until her retirement in 1979, after 25 years. Born June 27, 1908, in Potsdam, a daughter of William and Julia Murphy Parr, she married Joseph Loren Haggett on June 10, 1933. He died Feb. 11, 1986. She was a communicant of the Church of the Visitation, a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and an avid bowler. Surviving are a son, Lawrence "Buddy", Norfolk; four daughters, Nena Dibble, Mrs. George (Arlene "Sissy") Harris and Mrs. George (Ellen) Smith, all of Norfolk, and Mrs. Harold (Barbara) Buck, Colton; a sister, Judy Tuffing, Denver, Colo.; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several hephews and nieces. Four brothers, Hugh, William, Thomas and Robert Parr, and two sisters, Ellen Munson and Elizabeth McKenty, died before her. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Visitation with Monsignor Thomas J. Robillard presiding. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Norwood. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Buck Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to Norfolk Volunteer Rescue Squad or the Church of the Visitation Building Fund.
