Fred C. Laramy, 80, of 31 Orchard Street, a retired General Manager of Alcoa Aluminum company of America, and a widely known member of Church and Masonic organizations, died Thursday, February 17, in Winter Haven Hospital, Winter haven, Fla., where he had been a patient for three days.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, February 21, at the Elm Park United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Howard E. Hockenbury, pastor, and the Rev. Joseph A. Fiske, former pastor, officiating.
Burial will be later in Riverside Cemetery, Norwood, N.Y.
Mr. Laramy was born December 29, 1891 at Chateaugay, a son of Moses and Catherine (Kiley) Laramy. He married Martha Shepard on April 4, 1911 at Chateaugay. Mrs. Laramy died February 11, 1962 and he married Mrs. Hazel S. Jones on June 15, 1963 at Watertown.
He retired in 1958 after having been General Manager of the Millwright Department at the Alcoa Aluminum Company of America where he had been employed for more than 30 years.
He had been a resident of Oneonta for the past nine years and previously had lived in Norwood where he was mayor for eight years (1950-58).
He had been a member of the Norwood United Church of Christ for more than 30 years before moving to Oneonta and had held several church offices. He had been presented with an Appreciation Plaque for having served nine years a Registrar and Treasurer of the Black River-St. Lawrence Association.
He was a member of the Elm Park United Methodist Church, where he was trustee and member of the Administrative board; a 32nd degree Mason and a 50-year member of What Cheer Lodge 689, F. & A.M., Norwood; a member of Central City Consistory, Syracuse; Oneonta Lodge of Perfection, where he was a Degree Director; a member of Kalurah Temple, Binghamton, and the holder of a Meritorious Service Award from the New York Council of Deliberation.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Francis (Frieda) McNulty, Raymondville, N.Y., and Mrs. Harry (Ann) Myers, Poughkeepsie; a step-son, Burton Jones, West Winfield; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Walter (Gladys) Martin, Albany; a brother, Charles Laramy, Heuvelton, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at their convenience at the Bookhout Funeral Home until 11 a.m., Monday.
The family will be in attendance from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday.
Oneonta Lodge 466, F. & A. M., will hold memorial services at 7:30 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
