Adult Home Manager

NORWOOD--Joan L. "Maudie" Martens, 62, of 1 Pete St., Central Islip, a native of Norwood, died Wednesday at University Medical Center at Stonybrook. Mrs. Martens was manager of Maple Rest Home Adult Care Center, Sayville. Born Oct. 19, 1938, in Norwood, she was a daughter of William G. and Grace L. Crump Webster. She married Robert S. Martens on July 28, 1956, in St. Killian's Catholic Church, Farmingdale, with the Rev. Jeremiah Ahern officiating. Mrs. Martens was an avid bingo player and enjoyed bowling. Surviving besides her husband of Port St. Lucie, Fla., are six sons, Charles F., Port St. Lucie, Robert, Glenn and Allen, all of Long Island, Greg, Pennsylvania, and William, Potsdam; a brother, William E. Webster, Potsdam; two sisters, Mary J. Rose, Potsdam, and Rita L. Cozzi, Novato, Calif., 18 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Two sisters, Belva Castro and Anna Merchant, died before her. The funeral will be at 8:30 p.m. Monday at Buck Funeral Home with the Rev. John P. Kennehan, pastor of St. Mary's Church, Potsdam, officiating. Spring burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
