Daniel McCarthy, 86, lifelong resident of this vicinity, died on Monday morning at the home of his only son, Frank McCarthy, at Rockville Center, Long Island. Death was caused from heart trouble. Mr. McCarthy had been visiting his son since October and had been ill since December.
He was born in Norwood July 3rd, 1846, a son of Melvin and Mary Colligan McCarthy. His entire life had been spent in this vicinity. He was with the paper mills at Norwood and Potsdam until he retired some years ago.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Frank A. Seaver of Potsdam and Mrs. Frank Lane of Norwood; one son Frank McCarthy of Rockville Center; one sister Mrs. Catherine Sutherland of Boston.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the McCarthy home in Spring St., Norwood, Rev. L. S. Haley, pastor of the Episcopal church Norwood, officiating, with burial in Riverside cemetery at Norwood.
