NORWOOD--The funeral for Marjory E. McCarthy, 81, formerly of Baldwin Acres, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Garner Funeral Home, Potsdam, with the Rev. Leon Sweeney officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Mrs. McCarthy died Thursday afternoon at United Helpers Canton Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since February. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. For many years Mrs. McCarthy was a clerk at the A&P grocery store in Potsdam, where she also worked in the meat department. She retired in 1974. She spent most of her life in Norwood and was a member of Norwood Congregational Church. Born Dec. 22, 1917, in Norwood, daughter of Charles Henry and Blanche Austin Willard, she attended Ogdensburg and Norwood schools. She married Walter J. McCarthy on Oct. 23, 1937, in Norwood. The marriage ended in divorce. Mr. McCarthy died in 1975. Surviving are three sons, Ronald C., Lake Worth, Fla., David G., Potsdam, and John W., Durham N.C.; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Three sisters, Ethel Seamans, Ruth Bullew and Mabel Redmond, died before her.
