Laurence W. Mitchell

BRUSHTON--Laurence W. Mitchell, 55, Main Street, died Tuesday afternoon in the emergency room at Alice Hyde Memorial Hospital, Malone. An autopsy is being performed to determine a cause of death. A heart attack is suspected.

Mr. Mitchell was a self-employed auctioneer and owned and operated Adirondack Sales

Born feb. 20, 1944 in Potsdam, son of William and Mildred Finch Mitchell, he was a graduate of Potsdam High School

He was an exempt member of the Norwood Volunteer Fire Department, was past president of Northern New York Firemen's Association and enjoyed snowmobiling, attending auctions and taking photographs of sporting events.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Brenda) Fetterly III, Bloomfield, N.J. , and Rashele Mitchell, Potsdam; two brothers, Terry Mitchell, Orleans County, and William Mitchell, Rockaway, N.J. ; three sisters, Merry Donahue and Judy A. Russell, both of Potsdam, and Susan Vasser, Colton; four grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces.

A brother, David, died before him.

A graveside service will be at 6 p.m. Saturday at Riverside Cemetery, Norwood, with the Rev. Linda Harris officiating.

There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Buck funeral Home, Norwood.
