NORWOOD--The funeral for Elsie Orton, 93, formerly of Potsdam and Norwood, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Buck Funeral Home with the Rev. Linda Harris officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs. Orton died Wednesday evening at St. Regis Nursing Home, Massena, where she had been a resident since August 1993.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where members of the Order of the Eastern Star will meet at 7:30 p.m.

She was a salesclerk and cashier at a dining hall at Potsdam State University College.

Born Jan. 31, 1906, in Norwood, daughter of Ernest and Mae Harrison Warner, she married Vernon M. Orton on Sept. 23, 1943. He died July 5, 1960.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are a sister, Peggy Almy, Unionville, Conn.; three step-grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A stepson, Dolyn Orton, died before her.

MASSENA--Funeral services for Elsie Orton, 93, of the St. Regis Nursing Home, Massena, and formerly of the Mayfield Apartments, Potsdam, will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Buck Funeral Home, Norwood, with the Rev. Linda Harris presiding. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Norwood.

Calling hours are Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be an Eastern Star service at the funeral home Sunday at 7:30 p.m.

Mrs. Orton died Wednesday evening (May 19, 1999) at the St. Regis Nursing Home, Massena, where she had been a resident since Aug. 1993.

Her survivors include three grandchildren, Mrs. Carol Morrissette of Canton, Gary Orton of Walton and Robert Orton of Binghamton; nine great gradnchilren; a sister, Mrs. Peggy Almy of Unionville, Conn.; and several nieces and hephews.

She was preseceased by a stepson, Dolyn Orton, and a step daughter-in-law, Simone Orton.

Mrs. Orton was born Jan. 31, 1906 in Norwood, the daughter of Ernest and Mae (Harrison) Warner. She married Vernon Orton on Sept. 23, 1943 and he predeceased her in July 1960.

She was a sales clerk and cashier in a dining hall at the State University of New York at Potsdam.

She was a member of the Norwood Methodist Church and the Eastern Star OES of Norwood.
