Heavy equipment operator

WEST STOCKHOLM--The funeral for Eugene Gary Osgood, 69, West Stockholm, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Gardner officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Norwood.

Mr. Osgood died Friday at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Osgood was a heavy equipment operator for the state Department of Transportation in Potsdam, retiring in 1983. He was a lifelong resident of the area.

Born Jan. 12, 1926, in the town of Stockholm, son of Floyd R. and Viola Clark Osgood, he married Helen Chase on June 23, 1956, at Potsdam Methodist Church.

Surviving besides his wife are five sons and three daughters-in-law, Randy and Katie, Lake Placid, David and his companion Valarie Schnieder, Syracuse, Brian and Robin, Loxahatchee, Fla., Ralph and his companion Margaret Chioffe, West Palm Beach, Fla., and Bruce and Linda, Uvalda, Ga.; four daughters and a son-in-law, Roberta Osgood and her companion John Coffey, Pyrites, Barbara Osgood, Potsdam, Penney Osgood, and Sue Ellen and Jeffrey Kotary, all of Syracuse; a brother, Floyd Jr., Zephyrhills, Fla.; 22 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Two sons died before him: Gary Lee on March 23, 1985, and Terry Joe on Feb. 17, 1997. A brother, Reginald R., and a sister, Barbara June Osgood, also died before him.
