Tool and die maker

NORFOLK--The funeral for Glenn R. Pernice, 79, of 17 Hepburn St., will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Church, Raymondville, with the Rev. Richard Lenz, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Norwood.
Mr. Pernice died Wednesday evening at the home of his nephew Charles Pernice, Norfolk.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Buck Funeral Home.
He served as an engineer with the Army, 618th Engineer Base Equipment Co., during World War II from 1943 to 1946, seeing duty in New Guinea and the Philippines. Following the war, he was a heavy equipment operator and operated an excavation business.
He was employed by the Aluminum Company of America, co-owned Northern Marine Supply and was a tool and die maker at General Motors Central Foundry, all in Massena, until his retirement in 1987.
Born April 16, 1924, in Ogdensburg, son of Ray D. and Pearl Bush Pernice, he was a June 1943 graduate of Norfolk High School and received a degree in machinery and metals manufacturing from Canton Agricultural and Technical Institute in June 1948.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Raymondville, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Friends of Norfolk Hepburn Library, American Legion, Norwood-Norfolk Minor Hockey and Norfolk Republican Committee. He was a coach for Babe Ruth Baseball and enjoyed harness racing, boating, watching St. Lawrence University hockey games and being outdoors.
Surviving besides his nephew Charles Pernice are his companion, Chris Hamel, Massena; a brother, Carlton, Norfolk; three nieces, three other nephews, three great-nieces and five great-nephews.
A brother, Roger F. Pernice, died May 24, 1999. A nephew, Robbie Pernice, also died before him.
