POTSDAM--Darrell J. Rafter, 43, of 1106 Racquette Road, died Thursday in Canton-Potsdam Hospital. An autopsy is to be performed.

Mr. Rafter worked at Burger King in Potsdam until he became disabled and in earlier years had been a farm laborer.

Born Dec. 11, 1959, in Potsdam, son of Darrell F. and Jean McGregor Rafter, he attended Norwood-Norfolk Central School, Norwood.

He was divorced.

Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Jean and Homer Barclay, Madrid; three brothers, Dale G., Alabama, James L., Colton, and Jason E., Arkansas; aunts uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Memorial Home, Madrid, with Monsignor Robert L. Lawler officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Norfolk.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Donations may be made to Potsdam Rescue Squad.
