Madrid--Funeral services for Lawrence Rafter, 66, Route 1, Norwood, were held Thursday, Dec. 20, 1973 at 1:30 p.m. at the Fay G. Mann Funeral Home, here, with Rev. Charles Maxfield, pastor of the United Church of Madrid, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Norwood, in the spring. Mr. Rafter died on arrival at Potsdam Unit of Central St. Lawrence Health Services (information missing). He had collapsed at his home. Mr. Rafter is survived by his widow, Mrs. Alberta Rafter; four daughters, Mrs. Beulah Pryce and Mrs. Beverly Pearson, both of Madrid, Mrs. Sandra Planty, Lisbon, and Mrs. Carole Flanders, Potsdam; three sons, Darrell and Robert, Madrid, and Randy, Lisbon; two brothers, Bernard and Clarence, Massena; three sisters, Mrs. Mabel White, Chittenango, Mrs. Rose Bourdon, Massena and Mrs. Mary Guyette, Massena; 28 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was born at St. Anicette, Que., a son of David and Katherine Russell Rafter, and married the former Alberta Rowley. He had worked on the railroads in the Norwood region for 18 years.
