David, son of Jonathan and Mary Reed, was born in Vermont, March 5, 1814, shortly before the death of his father, and died in Norwood, N.Y. June 1882. He lived in Massena as a child, but later removed to Norwood, where he received his education. He was a farmer and speculator, dealth in live stock, and the later years of his life were devoted to the raising of farm products. He was a Congregationalist in religion, and a Republican in politics.

He married Mary Ann Pelton, of Madrid, N.Y., born June 17, 1821, died April 19, 1899, daughter of Elisha and Mahala (Brentwell) Pelton.

(A very brief notice in the Ogdensburg Advance in June 1882, stated that "Mr. David Reed an old and respected citizen of this village (Norwood) died at his residence June 14.")
