Mrs. Jane Reed Passes On At 95

One of Norwood’s Oldest

Had Been In Failing Health for Some Time

NORWOOD--Mrs. Jane Reed, 95, died at her home here at 11 Spring St., last Wednesday morning. One of the oldest citizens of Norwood, for some time her health had been getting worse.

Mrs. Reed was born in the town of Stockholm on Feb. 16, 1852, the daughter of the late Henry and Sarah Smith Munson. At 22 she was married to Rollin D. Reed in the parsonage of the Congregational church of Norwood. Their ceremony was performed by Rev. F. H. Griffin. Death came to Mr. Reed in July, 1938, after the couple had been wed for 63 years.

Mrs. Reed was the first Matron of Lyra Chapter, No. 230, O.E.S., and a charter member of the club.

Surviving is a sister-in-law, Mrs. Carrie R. Morton, of California.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the home, with Rev. David Hayeman, pastor of the Congregational church, officiating. The remains were placed in the Riverside vault to await burial in the spring.
