Margaret Wedemeyer, Once Of Norwood, Dies

NORWOOD--Margaret Robertson Bartlett Wedemeyer, 95, Miami, Fla., died May 8 in the Baptist Hospital, Miami, following a short illness.

A memorial service was held May 13 at East Ridge Funeral Home, Miami. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Congregational Church, Norwood, with the Rev. David VanEpps officiating. A reception will follow in the community rooms of the church.

The body was cremated in Florida and the remains will be buried in the Norwood Cemetery.

Donations may be sent to the Norwood Library.

Surviving are two sons, Vernon L. and John F., both of Norwood; two sisters, Mrs. G.E.C. (Mabel) Mears and Mrs. Rudolph (Marion) Mattson, both of Fort Pierce, Fla.; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. A son, Charles R., died March 31, 1970.

Born Jan. 13, 1901, in Pittsburgh, Pa., a daughter of Frederic W. and Elizabeth Glanner Robertson, she moved with her parents to Florida City, Fla., on Feb. 2, 1913.

She graduated from Homestead High School in 1919 and attended Florida State College and the University of Florida. She was a teacher in Florida City, in Homestead, at the Larkin School and for three years at the Riverside School, Miami.

She married Charles W. Bartlett, Norwood, on June 16, 1925, and was the librarian of the Norwood Library from 1952 to 1963. She was active in the work of the Congregational Church, Norwood Literary Club and Women’s Republican Club.

After retiring, she and her husband traveled, spending winters in Key Largo, Fla. Mr. Bartlett died Oct. 25, 1971.

She married Hans Wedemeyer, of Islamorada and South Miami, Fla., in 1986, and the couple moved to East ridge Retirement Village, Miami, in November 1987. Mr. Wedemeyer died April 30.
