Was school board president

NORWOOD--Kinsman Edward Wright, 92, Ventura, Calif., formerly of Norwood, died Wednesday in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Mr. Wright was president of H.M. Kinsman Co., a Buick dealership in Norwood. He served first on the Norwood Central School board of education and was elected president of the newly formed Norwood-Norfolk Central School board in 1949. He was president of the board at the time the new junior/senior high school was built. He and his wife later moved to Ventura, where he was involved in real estate.

Born Sept. 29, 1911, in Sullivan, Ill., son of Mr. And Mrs. Edward E. Wright, he graduated from Norwood High School in 1929, attended Williams College, Williamstown, Mass. for three years and graduated from Rollins College, Winter Park, Fla., in 1933.

He married Alice J. Butler on April 5, 1934, in New Haven, Conn., with the Rev. Arthur McKenney officiating. She died before him.

He was a vestryman of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Norwood, a 32nd-degree Mason, a former president of the Northern New York Men’s Club and a lifelong member of the Kiwanis Club, serving as president both in Norwood and in Ventura. He was a member of the Ventura Association of Realtors.

Surviving are two sons and their wives, Dr. Kinsman E. Jr. and Cheryl, Chattanooga, Tenn., and Dr. Robert S. and Debbie, Santa Barbara, 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A son, John, died before him.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Ventura.

NORWOOD--A graveside service for Kinsman Edward Wright, Ventuira, Calif., formerly of Norwood, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Riverside Cemetery.

Mr. Wright, president of H.M. Kinsman Co., a Buick dealership in Norwood, died April 14, 2004, in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Local arrangements are with Buck Funeral Home, Norwood.
